Secondly we get a lot of calcium carbonate in this
area and the "color" has that look to it. Put a
drop of vinegar in one corner and see if it
fizzes. If it has been encrusted in salt or
calcium carbonate then it is probably fairly
recent in origin. If it's quartz as PK suggests
then I'd say you have quite a find. Either way it
is a unique specimen. I would love to see it in
person. Where are you going to be in Tucson?

SORRY--- but in no way, did i (PK) suguest quartz,
in fact i very much doubt it
