: It was formerly assigned to Isurus, and was redescribed by Capetta I believe. It's one of the few large lamniform genera that everyone agrees upon.

thanks for the update! the P. benedinii that i get are from the miocene temblor fm. and to give you an idea of just how rare these teeth are here, there is one P. benedini found for every 10 C. megalodons, and im sure you know how uncommon megalodons are here on the west coast!
i HAVE seen collections from a pliocene area in baja mexico, where P. benedini makes up approx.
15% of the teeth. however, in any case "benedinis" are not common enough out here, for marketing
