: : : : I am trying to evaluate and identify the plate in the picture. The crystalization looks to be quartz. The piece has been in a private collection in florida for the past 18 years. On the box is written "Fossilized Dragon Fly Salton Sea Ca. (Smithsonian Exhed- Mr. Moore" I am trying to insure the piece to be secure in taking to tucson to display in the event it is of substantial value. Any info or advice would greatly be appreciated. Thank You,

: : : please, i think now is a great time to use the material i sent virtual guide !

: PK was refering to me (the "Virtual Guide"). He send me a while back a very funny article about pseudo fossils in respect to Marion's find which turn out to be a real Monathesia stantonii cycadeoid. Here lets see, but your comments about the highly mineralized creek makes me now wonder...now I find suspicious that fact that the dragonfly wings are so well preserved in 3D ;-)

DRAT! did i forget to send the "salton sea dragonfly" chapter, with the material i sent you!
it talks about these EXACT dragonflies and, as i recall, the title does not mention pseudophossils.
