One bugging question is the age. Why do the rocks have
to be Precambrian in age? Traces are extremely rare
in Precambrian rocks, but are usually assigned to
Planolites or Neonereites. A paper is now in press
in the Journal Geol. Soc. London on 600 Ma old
traces from Scotland, which are claimed to be the
oldest definite signs of triploblastic coelomate
metazoans in the fossil record. Your Planolites-type
traces would make a valuable addition to the pre-
Ediacara fossil story if the age can be pinned down
