Your prof seems to be very ignorant regarding Anomalocaris. Anomalocaris has been found in over 2 dozen localities worldwide including Chengjiang, Sirius Passet in Greenland, Poland, the Ukraine, the Eager Formation in Canada, the Wheeler Shale in Utah, Kangaroo Island in Australia and even Alabama. Appendages are known from the Marble Mountains as well. Those are all published. Unpublished specimens are even more widespread. Complete specimens are known from at least 6 localities besides Canada. I'd suggest anyone who is curious check out Sam Gon's excellent Anomalocaris website.
