Yeah, if that small hill is where you were digging about 30 - 100 yards or so from the end of the road ... (the one with the really bright red shale) then that's the dry hole I was speaking of. As far as I can tell that location is void of any life, for whatever reason .. be it poor preservation conditions etc....
You always can tell that you're in a good location when you see small bits and pieces in the shale, chances are, 9 times out of 10 that particular layer will turn up more of them.

The productive deposit is on the other side of the large gully or wash ... a good 1,000 to 2,000 foot hike up and over that small hill (where there are signs of digging) and around to the other side. There the deposit is about 120 feet thick.
