I must stress that Dendroidic graptolites were indeed alive and well in the Middle Cambrian. Funny you should use the term "sclerites" because Graptolites are scleritized tubes. After viewing many plates in Palmer and Richards book on "Graptolites";I must insist that graptolite still seems valid. If Stephen Gould was still alive, I know he would be calling it "key holing". Instead of making a jellyfish out of a Peytoia; we'd be making a telson out of a graptolite. Isn't fossil identifying a lot of fun?
