I figure, though, that there must be something to your assertion of graptolite status; some specimen or even series of specimens that you've seen that leaves you with the strong inference that the specimen is a graptolite. And once you find the image(s), either the hosting site that Roz suggested, or perhaps even the guide's assistance (as with Joe's posting of his composite image) will lead the images to appear here on the forum. Forward, science! ;)

I am so ignorant of graptolites that I'm not sure in which direction the challenge lies in the 4" size: are most graptolites much smaller than 4" or much bigger?

: It seems I have two challenges here. First, to come up with a convincing picture of a comparable candidate and the other is how to post the pic.
: I'll work on both. Up front the hardest criteria will be the 4" size constraint. The truth is out there somewhere.
