After "Jane" receives "Joe's" trade offer she replies using the Message Desk, the Online Fossil Trade Show computerized email messaging system. Neither "Jane" nor "Joe" need to know the email address of the other, so in principle, a trade can be negotiated successfully and the fossils shipped solely by communicating using the Message Desk system.

The Message Desk provides maximum communication security to all Show Attendants because it reduces the spread of harmful new viruses that harvest email addresses from the web caches of infected computers. The Message Desk system also prevents spammers from harvesting email addresses because the Show Attendant's email addresses are never made public.
