Asking a Question

The 'Offering a Trade' example shown in this tutorial also applies to the case when "Joe" just wants to ask a question to the Booth Manager. In this case, "Joe" clicks on the 'Ask Question' link located on "Jane's" booth and the ongoing communication procedures follows in identical manner to offering a trade.
Posting a Reference After a successful trade is completed, "Joe" has the option of posting a reference to "Jane's" booth. He does that by clicking on the 'Post Reference' link located on "Jane's" booth. The number of recommendations of each booth are posted in the Trade Show Lobby in the form of small fossil icons (...) - one icon representing one recommendation.
Username/Password Entry During ALL communications using the Message Desk or posting booth references, Show Attendants are required to enter their Username/Password combination. This allows for maximum security and protection from virus infected computers that harvest usernames and passwords from memory caches.
Spam Filters It is important that all Show Attendants enable their email program spam filters to allow the reception of trade offers and communications forwarded by the Show's Message Desk. For this purpose it is required that all Show Attendants set-up their email spam filters to allow any message that contain in the email subject.
Be Proactive To get the most benefit from the show, you should initiate offers to Booth Managers even if the offered material is not exactly what you want. Ask questions, initiate a dialog. Maybe the Booth Manager has what you want but he/she has not posted it at that moment. If you just sit down and wait for trade emails from others you may be wasting a lot of opportunities, especially more if you are only a Trading Visitor. You will get the most from the Show if you are willing to initiate dialogs.
Document your Communications It is very important to make print copies of all emails and Message Desk communications. It is advisable to keep a binder arranged by Username (and Booth Name if applicable), where you file all your communications in a date and time sequence. You can easily loose track of your offers and counter offers if you are not properly organized, especially if you are communicating with several Show Attendants at the same time.
