FOR NEWBIES:
When replying to somebody else's post, the Message Box will contain the text of the message you are replying to. That text will have Colons (:) before each paragraph. Depending on the prior message length, the Message Box may be already filled with text. You can type your reply interweaved with the text of the prior message or at the very bottom of the text. USE THE SCROLL ARROW BUTTONS WHEN THE TEXT EXCEEDS THE MESSAGE BOX SIZE. Click on the 'Submit Reply' Button to SEND your message and not to clear the fields.
Click on the 'Post Message' shown at the top of the Forum page. A form with several text fields will show-up. The required fields are: Name, Subject and Message. If you do not provide these, your post will not work. The optional fields are your E-mail address and the Link/Image fields below the message text box. Include these only if you want to. After you are done, click on the SUBMIT REPLY button located below the fields. If want to clear your entry click on RESET.
How do I post a reply message?
Simply click on 'Post Reply' shown at the top of the message you want to reply to. Then follow the instructions mentioned above.
What are the link fields below the message text box for?
The first 2 fields ( 'Link URL' and 'Link Title' ) are used to enter the URL Address and Title of your website if you have one. The 'Link Title' will show up as part of your message and will be linked to your 'Link URL'.
The last field ( 'Image URL' ) is used to enter the URL address of any picture that you would like to include as part of your message. Only pictures related to the fossil collecting theme please! (refer to our Legal section for restrictions on postings).
How can I post a message with a fossil image I have stored in my computer?
If you do not have a website and will like to post a fossil image as part of your message, you can e-mail your image to us and we will put it in our server. Then, we will e-mail you back the 'Image URL' address that you should use in your message. You should type the image address EXACTLY, if not an icon with a question mark will appear instead of the image. E-mail us if you have any trouble.
My message did not show up in the Forum Index, why?
Probably because a previous Forum Index page was stored in your Browser's Cache. Just click on the 'Reload' or 'Refresh' button of your browser and the updated Forum Index page will appear.
I posted a message with an image but an icon with a question mark appeared instead!
This is because the image either does not exist at the address you entered or the address was typed incorrectly. Please e-mail us and we will correct this problem for you.
